Together Is Now Streaming, and It Could Strengthen or Shatter Your Relationship.

We present a dare for long-term couples who are fans of the horror genre: Get comfortable with your significant other and stream Together. This critically acclaimed 2025 movie has now made its launch on a streaming platform on Hulu. On the surface, it may seem like typical body horror, but beneath Together exists a intense examination about the ways we decide to love each other.

An Introductory Film Investigating The Nuances of Love

Together represents the first full-length movie for filmmaker Michael Shanks. It features Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple named Tim and Millie, partners that have been together for over ten years. Having wed in actuality in 2017, the actors contribute a particular energy to their portrayals, expertly portraying both the strengths and weaknesses of a committed partnership.

The narrative begins when Tim and Millie move from the metropolis to the country for professional reasons. A commonly used narrative setup, admittedly, but that’s largely where the conventions conclude. Together becomes as much a deep dive into the psyche of the partnership as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

A Paranormal Spark

While walking near their rural residence, a violent storm occurs, and the protagonists discover an hole in the earth. After being trapped overnight there and finally finding a way out, a mysterious influence takes hold of the duo. This force induces a paranormal intimacy between them that goes well past simple connection.

The entire film is a methodically building of scares, weaving in bits of fever-dream horrors, disturbing (but tastefully done) biological grotesqueries, and genuinely funny exchanges (sometimes amidst something disturbing). The director weaves these elements together neatly and wraps them up in a slowly mounting sense of impending doom.

Complex Characterizations

A large part of Together is exclusively the two lead actors, and they skillfully illustrate manifold depths to the characters’ relationship. Millie's sense of self and sense of connection is suffering due to a distance. Her underlying frustration of Tim for his reluctance to chase only his floundering music career slowly bubbles to the surface.

In contrast, Tim's character senses confinement and cut off by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve left the city and far away from his support system. He is terrified of the concept of completely losing his individual identity in Millie. This fear is intensified by the fact he lacks a driver's license and is dependent on Millie for transportation.

The film's most intelligent aspect in this movie never makes one partner or the other the definite antagonist.

Tim and Millie face the sort of issues that are inherent in any relationship over a long period. Deep down, they have affection for one another. They share moments of joy, offer support, and open up at times. But beneath it all, there’s an unavoidable undercurrent of doubt about their future together.

Symbolism and Metaphor

While the otherworldly presence in Together represent these fears of unhealthy attachment and giving oneself over to a partner, the metaphor avoids being clumsy or heavy-handed. Instead, these more disturbing, unsettling scenes provide a brilliant analogue to the relationship narrative. Both the frights and the fights enhance each other symbiotically.

A Divisive Ending

Together’s ending, which won’t be spoiled here, has left audiences divided on the movie's final takeaway about codependent relationships. It has been said that single viewers have seen the movie as a strong argument for avoiding commitment. On the other hand, certain partners who were in conflict found that the film ultimately assisted them reconcile.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own interpretation could potentially serve as a telling indicator of how you view relationships. Will the finale sow feelings of uneasiness and dread, or a uplifting feeling of optimism? Will you see yourself in one of the characters and yell at the screen, or simply glance toward your significant other and state, “I understand that choice”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an experiment you can experience at this very moment.

Together is available to watch on the streaming service Hulu as of this moment.
